Date: Sunday 24th November 2019
Time: 7am start
Course Description: Participants in the 30km event will complete two loops – the first a 10k loop is the same as the Lightning Strike 10k course. The 10km course comprises of a route that skirts around the lower slopes of Mt Stromlo, providing some beautiful scenery with a few undulations, but nothing overly gruelling. The second loop is a 20km loop and is more challenging as runners travel around the western part of Stromlo Forest featuring amazing views of the Brindabella mountains before ascending the western side of Mt Stromlo to take in all of the glory of Canberra. Some of the major climbs will provide a test for all runners and include the “Out-Back”, “The Prelude” and “The Mother”. The final few kilometres are a fast descent back down to the event hub and the finish line. The course will be well marshalled and marked to ensure that runners can run carefree and find their way.
Aid Station: Drink stations are approximately every 5-7km alomng the course and will provide water, Hammer Sports drink, and lollies.
Course Limits: The field will be limited to a maximum of 400 participants.
Performance Expectations: Runners will need to be trained up to run this event and finish in the 6 hours time limit.
All runners who registered before October 13 will receive a 10km finishers t-shirt (RRP $35). Every runner receives a finishers medal, and access to a post race snack station consisting of fruit and munchies.
